I might drop canva for this tbh
I just tried Kodo, a new AI design tool.
It is very easy to use. I created an Instagram carousel and turned it into a poster, all through chatting. You can edit on the fly right in the editor. I love the result.
I got early access to @usekodo and have been testing it recently. The experience was a lot like the first time I used Canva x10. I'm not a designer but suddenly I can make things that look really good.....
this is a genuinely useful app: text to design. amazing what @mlg27_ has done
Design via chatting. This is really impressive
I've been using it as a starting point for my design work and it's been giving me so much inspiration!
Follow a logical flow that matches how customers order: Appetizers/Starters → Soups/Salads → Main Courses → Sides → Desserts → Beverages. Put your most profitable or signature items in the 'sweet spots' - top right of each section and at the beginning/end of lists. Kodo's AI structures menus for optimal customer navigation.
Avoid price columns that encourage price comparison. Instead, place prices at the end of item descriptions without dollar signs or decimals ($12 vs 12.00). Use consistent formatting. For high-end restaurants, consider removing prices from dine-in menus entirely. Kodo handles price formatting professionally.
Less is more - customers experience 'menu fatigue' with too many options. Aim for 5-7 items per category and limit total items to 30-40. This speeds ordering and increases satisfaction. Use descriptions strategically to highlight key items. Kodo helps you create focused, effective menus.
Photos can increase sales by up to 30% when used sparingly - limit to 1-2 hero dishes per section. Ensure photos are professional and appetizing; poor photos hurt more than help. For fine dining, text-only menus often convey elegance. Kodo can incorporate food imagery tastefully.
Common sizes: Single page (8.5×11 or 8.5×14), Bi-fold (11×17 folded), Tri-fold (8.5×14 folded). Consider your table size and how staff will handle them. For durability, use lamination or menu covers. Digital menus via QR code are increasingly popular. Kodo supports all standard menu formats.
Yes! Kodo's menu tool is free to use. New users get 40 AI credits once. Each AI-generated design uses 4-12 credits. Manual design tools are always free with no credit limit.
Absolutely. You own everything you create with Kodo. Use your designs for personal or commercial purposes with no restrictions, attribution requirements, or licensing fees.
